[character history / background]:
Having lived a typical, middle class, Japanese life, it's no wonder that out of all the cast in Eyeshield 21, Mamori can probably be considered to be one of the most normal students at Deimon High (at least, judging by their football team). Perhaps the most noteworthy part of Mamori's history revolves around her childhood friendship with Kobayakawa Sena, as it played a large role in her personality being as caring and protective as it is today, and also resulted in her picking up the role of manager of the Deimon Devil Bats, the American football team at her high school, in order to protect Sena from bullies both on and off the team.

[character abilities]:
While possessing no skills of a supernatural nature (except perhaps the uncanny ability to block Himura's trigger-happy bullets), Mamori's sharp intellect makes her a very competent strategist for the football team, and when combined with her special type of sign language, enables her to work closely with the team during games. She is also an honor student in every subject except art--her talents there are comedically lacking.
One may also argue that Mamori's naivety and lack of perception is an ability in itself, allowing her to go through a larger part of the school year without realizing that her childhood friend, Sena, is actually the running back of the Devil Bats.
[character personality]:
The most defining part of Mamori's personality is her caring, almost mother-like nature, specifically with respect to her friendship with Sena. While normally rather soft-spoken and non-confrontational, Mamori is more than willing to act as the aggressor when her younger friend is being bullied or otherwise placed in the path of danger. Later in the series, this protective nature begins spreading to the rest of the team, and surfaces particularly with the team's quarterback, Hiruma, probably as a result of his devil-may-care attitude and willingness to sacrifice personal health to an almost unreasonable extent for the sake of the team.

Mamori will be pulled from chapter 266, the latest scanlated release of Eyeshield 21. At this point, the team is playing against the Hakushuu Dinosaurs and still striving to secure a place to play in the Christmas Bowl.
